Yeah, I saw this recently in setting up a new Mac, but I thought it
was me somehow since the smoketest was OK. I didn't think of XEmacs
itself being broken. Somebody (presumably Aidan who is always
fiddling with the byte compiler) has broken the byte compiler I think.
My understanding is the Semantic problem is the same problem Alan was seeing
with cc-align.el--that is, a problem that we’ve had for a long time that
used to be silent and now throws an error. I only looked into it very
superficially, though, and didn’t get to either posting to -beta about it or
fixing it.
