Yeah, you're right. process.c:init_process_io_handles has changed in
ways that might account for this.
It looks like processes now get set to default-process-coding-system
no matter what c-s-f-* are. Ben probably didn't intend it to work out
that way.
OTOH, the c-s-f-* interface is really horrible. Maybe he did ;-)
