Like I said, I din't consiously do it in this case, though I guess in
this case it provides compatibility with XEmacs 20.2 (and, depending
on the byte compiling settings, with XEmacs 19.x) but I am not sure
whether that also holds for the rest of cperl (I haven't checked).
If you do only runtime tests it is possibly to use XEmacs 19.16
bytecompiled .elc files under almost all current emacsen including FSF
19.34 and 20.2, but cperl currently doesn't so lets not worry about that.
Do not follow you unless backward-delete-function is not
CPerl-specific... Probably it is not, so it is OK.
Indeed backward-delete-function is not CPerl-specific.
Do you want a combined patch with the other minor changes?
