Yes. But it doesn't matter. I can see the problem here too when I do
make-itimer directly.

I am seeing that using Gnus can sometimes leave tens of timers lying
around (this makes XEmacs suck up CPU time like mad). That could be
related.
Which reminds me, there is a bugfix for edit-itimer that I still need
to submit.
