Anyway, the issue there was the same reason many Windows keyboard people hate XEmacs; one important developer with trouble tolerating other users’ preferred defaults. I still despise the idea of having the behaviour you want as a default, and now GNU Emacs running under Cocoa has it as a default, and has its own special way of turning it off, independent of their Carbon port. There doesn’t seem to be a nice way to implement it :-/ . Yes, the XEmacs Carbon port should absolutely support what you want in a reasonable fashion.
