I administer sendmail for my domain, so I can certainly block
it there. But the point is, if it's going to be blocked at
the MTA level, it might as well be blocked _once_ at the
origin of the mailing list (
gwyn.tux.org) rather than at the
hundreds of MTAs that receive the list.
The spam blocking tools all have the same problem: they also
block legitimate messages, which is no good for a mailing list.
The usual course of action for mailing lists is to allow posts
only from subscribers. That's the way to go, if we care that
much. Me, I've gotten used to the spam and can filter it mentally
pretty effectively at this point.
