regularly getting burned by XEmacs choosing the wrong coding
system. Perhaps I have excentric preferences - for example I don't
really care if accented characters in a web page source show right in
XEmacs, I just want them to *stay the same*, to agree with the coding
declaration - but I'm certainly glad to hear it's possible to disable the
feature...:-)
