That may be due to some difference in XEmacs configurations, but the breakage itself is more likely due to a difference in the Xmu library (the X.org folks have spent the last several years doing "mung until no good", and they've been successful in introducing a lot of no good :-( ), or perhaps to changes in the XEmacs event loop. Too bad, that was a great tool for figuring out what XEmacs's GUI was actually doing on X. I'll see if I can fix it, but I have no idea offhand what's going on so it may take a while.
