Sounds like a pretty good idea, but I'm dead with activating hay fever
at the moment. It might be a bit tricky: it has a configure script
of its own that *must* be run (it finds your TeX installation and tests
it for brokennesses and so on) and some of the stuff it installs goes of
necessity outside the XEmacs package/site-package trees (in the TeX trees).
There's a rewrite/expansion underway that will add C code to the mix too
(dvipng, to go straight from .dvi to displayable graphics without involving
dvips or ghostscript).
Maybe in the next few days. If it rains hard. :)
