Andy Piper <andyp(a)parallax.co.uk> writes in xemacs-beta(a)xemacs.org:
I am getting problems updating my packages under the latest beta.
Basically
I get:
"Doign chmod: NO such file or directory,
<sompath>/pkginfo/MANIFEST.somepkg"
It's not handling an obsolete package format properly (ie. lack of
pkginfo files).
and the update aborts (so I can't update everything). Surely this
error is
not a showstopper? Although I think the bug is.
This is *not* a showstopper, though I agree that it is unfortunate.
We're going to assume that everyone loads current packages either via
the SUMO tarball or ftp. In either case, pkginfo/ will be fully
populated with MANIFEST.<package> files.
*IMPORTANT*
If you don't have fully populated pkginfo/ directories, *please*,
*please* update your packages immediately. We need testing. Besides
VM, I have found packaging errors in other packages and we need to
catch them all. Thanks.
