I just got a 'bug-report' complaining that regexp-opt generates
incorrect regexps. Well, asside from the fact that I'm not sure
regexp-opt should generate shy groups by default, I do notice that
there is no mention of the shy groups functions or the minimal
matching operators in the info files. Now, since I've been poking
around through the regexp code I have a good idea of what they are,
but would like to ask someone who can come up with good reasons for
their existance to write 'em up. Otherwise, if you can provide a
couple of good samples, I'll take a stab at it...
