Do you see a prompt at least? If not, it sounds like one of the
modules is encountering an error while starting up. Also, try the
"pwd" command. Maybe you're having a problem with invoking external
commands...
pwd does work, ls also, eg. So, it's not the calling of commands in
general. If I type 'w' I don't get an answer. Yes, I get the new
prompt, but no information.
What OS and Emacs version are you using?
