Gutter (?) tromps on toolbar on toolbar repositioning

Andy, HAAAAAALP! xemacs -vanilla & M-x customize-variable RET default-toolbar-position RET <select 'left from VALUE menu> <click SET> <select 'top from VALUE menu> <click SET> Persistent bugger, too. The only way I've been able to get rid of it is to either unmap and remap the window, or to obscure it.
