No. I've done some work to make that possible, but unfortunately the
original contributed code assumes that you want Xft, and so you can
feed it an XLFD and it will return an Xft font. I don't know how much
work remains to make it actually possible; it's pretty complex.

Then I'll stay with X11 core fonts for the xemacs packages
available in the SuSE releases for the moment.
But I've enabled Xft in the xemacs packages available at
http://software.opensuse.org/download/M17N/openSUSE_10.2/
(but only for openSUSE >= 10.2).
That gives openSUSE 10.2 users an easy way to try out the Xft support.
