Ah, OK. A note in our old-c-mode (not a maximally authoritative
source, I admit) says it was ported from GNU 20.7, although it also
has some amount of code grabbed from cc-mode.

Ben likes the old c-mode better, and occasionally maintains it
(there's some stuff in there to address C 9x changes), so it's
unlikely to disappear from XEmacs any time soon.
