OK, I'm discovering I really don't have time to do anything with this
since you've got a reasonable plan to make progress. If there's
anything we can do to help you along the lines of standardizing names
or providing aliases for Emacs compatibility, please let us know!
I've improved the documentation of `beta-version-name' as well (not in
public repo yet).
