The code in faces.el is probably broken in practice, as well as by
design. I'm working on the latter, but can't recall anything that

working would be welcome from anybody.
With xft they are only in italics. This is of course no big deal, but
if I
don't complain now I suppose I have no right to complain later :-)
You have a right to complain about a bug, or request a feature, at any
time. The only fixes you have a *right* to are the ones you produce
yourself, though. ;-)
