ok, I haven't had buffer-tabs turned on for a long time, so I turned them
back on to test this - a number of comments, some of which should probably
be reported separately:
o first of all, where is the buffers-tab face in the customize
heirarchy-of-doom? that is, if I just do Options -> Customize -> etc.,
where can I find it? I expected it to be under Widgets, but it doesn't
seem to be there
in the end I just did M-x customize-face buffers-tab RET
o with the buffer-tabs turned on, I'm noticing strange periodic hangs -
strange because I can't seem to reproduce them - seem to happen after
attempting to kill a buffer via C-x k RET, or even by clicking Done in a
customize buffer - no cpu usage, just unresponsive (even to C-g) - if I
leave it alone and come back later, it seems OK
now I notice that just moving the mouse out of the frame and back in, to
refresh focus, seems to bring it back
maybe others have reported this - I admit I haven't paid close attention
lately
o back to the face update problem - you're right that it's mostly fixed -
just one small glitch - here's a recipe
1. load up a few dired buffers
2. split the frame (C-x 2 RET)
3. M-x customize-face buffers-tab RET
4. type in new Foreground color
5. click on Set
at this point the buffer-tab will be displaying "*Customize Face:
Buffe..." in the new color
6. move point back to other window, either via mouse-1 or C-x o
now the buffer-tabs will be displaying the dired buffer names, but with
the old Foreground color - kill a buffer or load a new dired buffer and
the dired buffer-tab faces will be updated
I noticed another problem related to use of custom, somewhat more serious,
but I think it deserves its own msg.
