M-x customize-face buffers-tab RET 4. type in new Foreground color 5. click on Set at this point the buffer-tab will be displaying "*Customize Face: Buffe..." in the new color 6. move point back to other window, either via mouse-1 or C-x o now the buffer-tabs will be displaying the dired buffer names, but with the old Foreground color - kill a buffer or load a new dired buffer and the dired buffer-tab faces will be updated I noticed another problem related to use of custom, somewhat more serious, but I think it deserves its own msg. -- John A.
