21.4 and 21.5 compatiblity (missing functions)

If you want to actually work on making it compatible with 21.5, I'm willing to help, but I doubt that it would be less effort for me to study, understand, and modify that code than it would be for you. In general, you've been clinging to your 21.4 environment for over five years now. There's nothing wrong with that by itself; even Steve Baur preferred 21.1 to 21.4 for about five years after the release of 21.4. But you can't have both modern features and an obsolete environment. At some point you're going to have to invest in a change if you want to add modern applications to your environment. You have to move to 21.5, SXEmacs, or GNU, or you'll have to do the work to upgrade 21.4 to include the new features needed to support the applications you want.
