OK, we'll flag this question for Andy et al. The reason it's not in the release candidate is that it's not ChangeLog'd and there's no comment to explain what it's for. I assumed it was cruft. This patch (all that's left of the diff against the windows branch that I merged) should get you a compile, at least, and I'll add it for the next RC.
