Correct. And I believe that it looked correct before your last patch as well,
although I cannot be certain without reverting the patch, which I can't do
right now.
And in fact not inserting the space into the extent made the glyphs display ok
before you patched redisplay at all! At least with the space before the
extent, I don't think I tried it after the extent since that'd be after the
newline in the extent anyways...
