Thank you for the suggestion. I did as you said it but the result was
the same as manual installation with the same config options.
May be changing the font size for the text only would be a reasonable
workaround...

Not at runtime, but you can grab the xemacs-21.5.*src.rpm from the
Fedora
sources repository and rebuild it with "rpmbuild --rebuild --with xft
xemacs*src.rpm" which should get you a Xft-enabled XEmacs binary rpms to
install. I haven't tested building using "--with xft" in a while but
I'm
fairly confident that it still works
