It's trivial to make XEmacs understand this syntax (as simple as
removing an #if 0), but the previous developers chose to not implement
the #() syntax to avoid the confusion with FSF Emacs string
properties. I agree with them.
Having said that, I also agree that it would be very cool to have the
Lisp reader programmable. It doesn't even sound like too much work,
offhand.
