He, it is even slower when running over ssh! :-( (That's why most
of the reviewers checkout over pserver and then commit using ssh).
Anyway,
cvs.xemacs.org just got upgrade to a newer CVS version (it had
a y2k problem!).
The hope is it will be faster as well as more reliable now.

Speaking of modem connections, kudos to the xemacs folks. I have idsl/isdn, and
displaying xemacs remotely is noticeably faster than gnu emacs, even though
it offers more graphic related bells and whistles.
Combined with dxpc, the X11 compression package, it's almost as fast as
running xemacs locally.
