Isn't this simply a case of "Don't do that then"?
The signal is caught somewhere, so the function finally works.
Anyway,
can somebody who knows it better than me look at the code?
IIRTTCC, the signal is caught by the ignore-errors statement in
function-at-point, which is as it should be.
