It wouldn't give the right effect, really. A lot of people use
gnuserv locally (ie, by setting EDITOR to gnuclient). So this would
catch people who just use gnuclient to edit CVS log messages and
crontabs, as well as people who want to log out from the desktop at
work and then log into the same XEmacs process from home or something
like that.
I've thought about it a little, and came to Jamie's conclusion: it
needs to be a user option, and off by default.
