You're not misremembering, but that bug was fixed, more than a
year
ago. Check your load-path shadows. It could be a corner case of the
old problem, but it could be local to you, too, since you just updated
packages. Has it been a while? If so, the package-get stuff has
changed, and could possibly have installed stuff in the wrong place.
An Installation file would be nice, too.
I get this too, every time I test the download of newly pre-released
packages using my 21.5 version. I create them using a stable XEmacs.
I've ignored them (perhaps not the wisest thing to do, yes).
