Oh, I didn't realize that you were referring specifically to the
info-look library. D'oh. Yes, if the existing library already uses
overlay.el, we should require it.
Fine. I hope that this means that my patch is approved.
[Note that since info-look is in the edit-utils package, it has
nothing to do with XEmacs 21.4.5. Except that it (presumably) runs
in XEmacs 21.4.5.]
Err, yes, sorry for the confusion. Now I understand you concern: I can
understand that the lisp files in XEMACS-21.4.5/lisp/ shouldn't require
anything from XEMACS-PACKAGES/lisp/fsf-compat/...

Well, I appreciate your effort. But I don't know how much
effect
there will be if most of the development is being done at GNU.
If our version would be too different from Emacs one, we would continue
to have an outdated version due to ressource limits.
[...] I think it unlikely that the GNU people would be willing to
uglify their code to accommodate the XEmacs extent API.
At least I'll try. BTW, there are quite a few XEmacs compatibility
issues mentioned in EMACS-21.1/lisp/ChangeLog.
But since I have to work on s/th else now I would appreciate if my patch
will be approved first.
