Could be. Are you a regular Gnus user? For mail?
Yes, but only for news -- not for mail. For my testing, I just
brought up gnus, read a few articles (all in English), and quit.
Purified programs run pretty slowly, and so it's a bit difficult to use
a purified XEmacs full-time (normally, it's not too bad, but gnus is
*really* slow with purify).
If not, I suspect
that you're probably not exercising the parts of Gnus that cause us
problems.

I don't think I'll apply it, I offer it for testing (if you
want to
try). My guess is that after applying the patch, you'll get the same
result. It's not the res_* things that are getting dereferenced,
_XimMakeImName doesn't have a handle to them, it's something else.
Yes, don't. No one else seems to be seeing the problem, and so
it's best not to fix imaginary bugs. ;-) It may be HP-UX-specific, and
HP-UX generally won't show it because HP-UX programs, by default, allow
NULL-pointer-dereferencing without core-dumping.
