XEmacs respects the ";;;###autoload" cookie in files, and
automatically produces an auto-autoloads.el file for those in the core
and in the official package hierarchy. I doubt there is a special
mechanism for automatically generating autoloads outside of those two;
bleeding-edge Gnus would therefore have to have its own mechanism in
XEmacs as well.
So what could be a simple solution?
Dunno. You'll have to ask the Gnus people about that I suppose (I
gather you already did, but I don't suppose there's anyone on
xemacs-beta who's not on ding that would know).
