Hi there!
I'm just through the XSM Protocol description, and now I know what SM (Session
Mannagement) is. By the time I modified XEmacs (together with someone else) to
create an app-icon (I think I've done only the configure part...) I named this
session-management option, cause did not know.
Perhaps we should either rename the option, or perhaps we could integrate it
completely into XEmacs (no option), cause it's the proper way to handle these
properties (as it is written down in the X Toolkit and X Intrinsics
manual). I'm still searching for a new name.
Main idea behind this is my plan to make XEmacs really SM compatible. This
would mean if you close your session with XEmacs running with multiple buffers
open and so on, it would look the same (same files, same point positions, etc)
after you restart your session.
This would be great for the 'new' desktops (GNOME, KDE, GNUstep+WMaker), cause
all those (I'm not sure in the case of qt/KDE) have/will have a session
manager. One more step in the direction of a unified desktop (together with
DnD this makes two).
[But first I have to rewrite this f*cking, cut-n-pasted OffiX module from
scratch]
Regards,
Oliver.
