I've been using it with a native windows build without problems.

works here, it's probably all right everywhere.
O.K. That's one hurdle. I've thought about this some more and
remembered the introduction of overlay emulation. We have had
plenty of difficulties with emulation and feature checking before
-- remember the overlay problems from last Spring?
How does it work if you also use mic-paren and eldoc (to name two
packages that use timers but shouldn't use them in XEmacs)?
