Thank you for XEmacs and the packaging tool! When I execute
"M-x
package-get-info" it says "Can't check signature: Public key nil not
found". It seems like either the necessary tools to do public key
signatures should come with the default install, or else the user
interface should offer a way to install unauthenticated packages.
I then followed the instructions on
http://www.xemacs.org/Documentation/packageGuide.html
To attempt to download Norbert Koch's public key (even though the
error message said "nil" rather than "82EDF2C1D1DD84CD"), and the
attempt appeared to time-out.
So now I'm trying the "M-x customize-variable RET package-get-require-
signed-base-updates RET" path.
I still think that this should be made easier. For example, why
doesn't the appropriate public key come with the efs package? Or if
public key authentication is currently broken, then we might as well
make unauthenticated package installation the default.
