I run with default-toolbar-position set to 'left, because vertical real
estate is more precious than horizontal real estate on my screen.
XEmacs 21.4 always starts up too narrow; it doesn't account for the
toolbar on the left when calculating desired frame width.
XEmacs 21.5 used to start up with the toolbar drawn across the top and
with the appropriate width for a top toolbar, then immediately shift the
toolbar to the left and resize itself to be large enough in the
horizontal direction. Sometime in the last couple of days, it stopped
resizing itself wider. It now starts up only 75 columns wide, instead
of 80.
Stephen, might this be related to your recent changes trying to appease
the window manager? If so, do you have any idea how we can just
calculate the right width in the first place instead of trying to
readjust after the fact?
Thanks,
