Additional minor problem: pdftex can't format the lispref manual
"as-is", because packaging.texi uses an "@xpms" macro:
With plain tex, the lispref table of contents is inserted at the
end of the manual, and the user has to then manually shuffle
paper pages. With pdftex, the TOC is inserted at the beginning
of the manual (by a modified texinfo.tex!); unfortunately, this
means that the @xpms macro must be defined before
"\input texinfo.tex" in lispref.texi, which it isn't (because
it's defined in packaging.texi), and the pdf conversion fails.
Blah.
Anyway, I don't consider this to be a "must-fix" problem, as I can
just manually change "@xpms" to the correct expansion before running
pdftex (ugly, but I can live with this workaround). I just thought
you'd like to know, though. ;-)
