More font droppings [was: selection or font problem]

The attached PNGs show a problem I'm now having with XEmacs 21.1.6. The last character on a line (or string) gets left with what looks like an underscore cursor. It's intermittent (doesn't always happen) but happens a lot. This occurs more frequently in buffers I'm actively typing into (I think) but also in buffers that are displaying unchanged text freshly read from an external source (eg, in the splash screen %-P of `xemacs -q', 2 of 3 tries). The artifact can occur just before a line-continuation glyph at the right edge of the window. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Refreshing the display may help or hurt, but single-stepping the cursor over it usually helps. (Doing so very quickly may not.) If it appears, then it can get autowrapped, and will be carried to the next line. Typing more on the same line or deleting to the left of it does not seem to change it. And it's infected the toolbar!
