I _failed_ to generate a dvi file from gnus.texi. The output of texi2dvi is:
This is TeX, Version 3.14159 (Web2C 7.3.1)
(/tmp/t2d14977/src/gnus.texi (/usr/share/texmf/tex/texinfo/texinfo.tex
Loading texinfo [version 1999-04-25.15]: Basics, pdf, fonts, page headings,
tables, conditionals, indexing, sectioning, toc, environments, defuns, macros,
cross references, (/usr/share/texmf/tex/plain/dvips/epsf.tex) localization,
and turning on texinfo input format.)
! Undefined control sequence.
l.17 @iflatex
The version of texi2dvi is:
texi2dvi (GNU Texinfo 3.12-pretest) 0.39
makeinfo --iftex gnus.texi
gnus.texi:17: Unknown command `iflatex'.
I have grepped all texi files in xemacs-packages/man and the only
file with
@iflatex is gnus/gnus.texi
gnus/texi has a Makefile that contains:
.texi.dvi :
$(PERL) -n -e 'print unless (/\@iflatex/ .. /\@end iflatex/)' $< >
gnust
mp.texi
$(TEXI2DVI) gnustmp.texi
cp gnustmp.dvi $*.dvi
rm gnustmp.*
Should I add this Makefile? I'm appending the complete Makefile
(actually Makefile.in) - it needs further tweaking for integration
into the XEmacs package tree.
