Side note. Please do not specify -with-xxx options for things that
configure autodetects. It can lead to subtle failures if there is
something wrong with these libraries.
Using ISPELL. The Ispell buffer was less than one line long, so I
tried to drag the statusline bar to expand the buffer window.

This is a known problem. Unfortunately no one has been able to pin it
down yet.
