Yes. I think SLIM does this, but I don't think it has been
packaged
for XEmacs (even FLIM doesn't seem packaged for XEmacs). Also I'm not
sure if SLIM is considered stable.
SLIM have been integrated into FLIM, which is the main trunk of SLIM.
FLIM will be ported to FSF Emacs 21 for leim, so I think SASL API of
FLIM is stable.
SLIM prepares next mechanisms.
