Well, you pay a price for not bothering about copyright assignments.
Um, no, don't point that finger at *me*. I've always mildly
encouraged new people to consider assigning their code, as did Steve
Baur, far more actively. But the damage was done before any of the
currently active developers came on board AFAIK.
If it were weak copyleft, it might be worth trying even at this point.
But with strong copyleft, well ... even rms has (in private)
characterized collecting assignments for XEmacs code as "useless".
That was way before my time.
