ensure that the X server generates the `Backspace' keysym when this
key is pressed. In which case, it doesn't matter if XEmacs deletes
forward in response to the `Delete' keysym.
The defaults in DEC OSF appear to be different. The key above return
generates Delete, the function key above the arrow keys generates
apLineDel. What is `apLineDel'? Is it something DEC-specific?
