They're in XPM format, what does GIFreader have to do with it?
They are xpm.Z files, and are decoded by invoking an external LZW
decompression program (zcat). It is not too unreasonable to assume
that most Unix systems will have a zcat program present. However, on
Win95, even with a "zcat" program installed, I have never been able to
get the photos in the "about" page to display - seems there's a
buffering problem on the way to/from the zcat subprocess. So perhaps
here's another reason to change 'em all to PNG.
