Re: Package system improvements!?

Is this supported at some level today? I fail to find where I want the packages installed so I assumed the package system would already have some logic to where to put them. I should really look at the code I think in order to understand this better. I know to little how it works now (maybe because the problems of getting it to work at all but I'm working on that.) Can you have the cake and eat it? I guess the package system then needs to install new downloaded packages in a new place where no user modified packages can exist. This way we won't overwrite the users modified packages. Now I though that xemacs-packages and mule-packages would be such a place where users should not modify the code. Installing a sumo tar ball would have the same disastrous effect!?
