At the risk of exposing my ignorance, I will ask the basic question that
has been bothering my from the times I learned about fork/exec.
Why not have an exec-like call which creates a new process (instead of
replacing the current one with the new one)? My understanding is that
usually exec follows fork and fork is followed by exec - so why not
merge the calls?
Also, how is vfork different from vork? [linux man says that vfork=fork]
Thanks.
