Hi Martin,
I'm using Brian Goetz's "Java: Concurrency in Practice" book in a class
I'm teaching this semester. It was fun to see your name inside the
front cover.

Oops....old address.
I recently upgraded to xemacs-21.4.20 + xemacs-sumo-2006-12-21,
and was disappointed to find that comint was broken in various
interesting ways.
Bug 1:
xemacs -vanilla
M-x shell
$ sleep 1000
C-c C-c does indeed kill the sleep process, but
the message "C-c C-c" normally printed in the echo area is actually
inserted into the buffer. Annoying and incompatible.
Bug 2:
Normally at end of buffer, C-a moves point from the end of the
composed input to the end of the prompt.
However if you copy/paste (i.e. comint-insert-input) text from
somewhere else in the shell buffer to the end of buffer, then C-a has
no effect. This appears to have something to do with "fields", which
Jerry James has apparently worked on.
This broken behavior is intolerable.
Yes, I agree. I have not had time to work on fixing the comint and
associated shell bugs for months now, either. I propose that we revert
to the versions of comint and shell that were in CVS before I started
monkeying with it. I'll keep the current versions in my workspace so
that I can hopefully iron out the problems eventually, but this
brokenness should not be visited upon everyone else in the meantime.
Regards,
