I don't think the function key can be mapped, at least under earlier
versions of Mac OS X, but the option/alt and command/"Apple" keys
definitely can. Normally the command key is mapped to Meta and the
option key to Alt, I think. On my MacBook Pro there are two command
keys, and they can be mapped independently. There's also an enter key
which also can be mapped.
Finally, it may be possible to map the function key, but if you do
you'll quite possibly lose the functionality it's intended for.
