In XEmacs 21.5.24, if your fontconfig configuration picks up fonts
whose names are not ASCII, you will get a crash. Already fixed in
CVS. I recommend updating if you use Xft (many Linux distros provide
a wide range of fonts, such as UnDotum for Korean, which is the one
that crashed me).
The fix is still suboptimal, maybe, as if some broken font specifies a
name that is _not_ compatible with the specified encoding (Latin 1 for
XLFDs and UTF-8 for fontconfig/Xft), you'll get an error---there's no
way to use such a font.
