I doubt Ubuntu is any different.
I tried to install latest Ubuntu in a virtual-box in order to
investigate the problem better. Unfortunately it failed to launch
gnome properly because of problems with 3D-acceleration. Sigh. Maybe I
can still use it to check the xemacs build anyway. Don't need the
graphics to build it. I'll keep you posted.
