For you, everything worked. Obviously not so for Japanese. So patch
your own copy of the sources as you like, and there will be an
official patch which should make everybody happy in due time.
No problem, I just thought the patch was insufficient for Japanese
environment so it wouldn't help them and reverting it wasn't a problem.
(BTW: Couldn't you just do an ugly hack like
(if (equal language-environment 'japan)
(stuff from patch)
(old-behavior)
