I believe the installer remembered your previous settings. At the top
there is a selection drop down which defaults on first use to
"Recommended Installation", which is not all packages. There's also a
'Minimalist Installationt' setting which will deselect all but the
most essential packages.
2. In the next step the installer seems to recognize packages that
are
already installed and asks what to do. That is, I believe it asks
that since the list is so long that I can't see the bottom of the
dialog on my 16:9 laptop. The dialog box is not resizable, but I am
sure there is a trick to move it up, which I don't know. So fingers
crossed I simply hit RET, hoping it DWIM (which it did).
That sounds odd. I don't remember about a prompt about already
installed packages. I'll investigate a little further.
